Civil litigation

Civil Litigation Attorney Pewaukee

A personal injury case is about the injured person, the medical history, and the legal creativity of the lawyers. It is also about knowing how insurance companies view each injury case. Attorney Erin Fay, prior to becoming a lawyer was a biomedical engineer, ready to attend medical school. Her knowledge of the engineering behind how an accident occurs and a injury occurs help her to achieve great results for her clients. Additionally, Attorney Erin Fay has worked on the “other side” as an insurance defense attorney, so she is well-aware of how insurance companies and their lawyers work to deny you a fair settlement. If you have been involved in a vehicle accident, please contact Oakton Avenue Law Offices, S.C., at (262) 691-2726 for legal representation. Many of these cases can be settled well before a lawsuit is even started.

The dog bite statutes of Wisconsin make a dog owner liable for damages resulting from the bite. It is an automatic liability for the owner or keeper of the dog, unless it can be proven that the dog was acting in self-defense or there was another defense for the dog’s actions. This “first bite” requires that the owner/keeper pay for the medical expenses required for the injured person.

If the dog’s owner knew that the dog had previously bitten a person, the owner must pay double damages. The owner also faces a fine and other penalties. That also applies if the dog is staying with a “babysitter”—the babysitter is considered a keeper of the dog. If the dog injures another person, while in the keeper’s care, the keeper can also be held liable. Dog bite cases can be deceptively complex. Attorney Erin Fay, prior to working at Oakton Avenue Law Offices, worked for homeowner insurance companies and handled many dog bite cases. Now, she handles both the injured as well as the dog owners on such cases. If you have been bitten by a dog and sustained injuries, please contact Oakton Avenue Law Offices, S.C., at (262) 691-2726 for legal representation. Many of these cases can be settled well before a lawsuit is even started.
